On September 23 2018 a group of scholars and activists formulate the Charter of Key Hindu Demands The genesis of this was an August 25 event organized by the Srijan Foundation at Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (Intach) in New Delhi
The meeting resulted in a Charter of eight key demands:
1. Provide Equal Rights to Hindus in matters of faith and religion by Passing Satyapal Singh’s 2016 Private Member’s Bill pending in Lok Sabha (Satyapal Singh’s flat was found to have been used as a brothel)
2. Repeal FCRA Act completely and ban all foreign money inflow through FCRA, except for the funds from OCIs and end interference of foreign governments in our Judiciary, Law & Policy making.
3. Enact Freedom of Religion Act to prevent interference in practice and propagation of native Hindu and Indic Traditions, Customs and Rituals.
4. Abrogation of Article 370 and repeal Article 35A of the Constitution, Trifurcation of Jammu & Kashmir into separate states/UTs of Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh.
5. Ban on Export of beef from India.
6. Establish Haindava Samskruti Jeernoddhara Nigam (CPSU), with a seed fund of at least 10,000 Cr for restoration of dilapidated temples and architecture for preservation and propagation of Hindu (native Indian) literature, arts, dance forms, culture and traditions.(interesting to see who manages 1.5 billion dollars seed fund)
7. Guaranteeing Citizenship to the persecuted people, practicing Indian origin religions (Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists), by Enactment of a New Citizenship Act Bill and withdraw all amendments to Existing Citizenship Act Bill.
8. Provide Equal opportunities to all Indian languages.(Goes counter to the BJP’s Hindi imposition and the RSS’s Sanskrit obsession )
CBI director Nageswara Rao is said to have been among the seven key people who helped formulate the Charter of Key Hindu Demands that was issued by a group of activists and scholars on September 23 and which they said would be presented to the Prime Minister soon. After the talk, Rao had spent about two hours brainstorming with the small group — mostly academics, professionals and Hindu activists — on the issues that they thought needed to be raised. Srijan Foundation founder and tech entrepreneur Rahul Dewan said the group has also demanded a ban on all foreign contributions except those by Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) in their personal capacity by repealing the existing Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act and enacting a new one.
When asked about Rao’s role in drafting the charter, Dewan confirmed his presence at the first two meetings in August and September but he said he had no role to play in the final draft. “Initially there were seven-eight people. And we took inputs from 15 more people with a shared Google document. The drafting was done with ideas from Sankrant Sanu, reading Koenraad Elst’s papers and going through Satyapal Singh’s Bill,” he said.Economic Times
